Geoffrey Comes Home…

Geoffrey comes home tomorrow, so to speak … Now to figure out some appropriate uses / places for his ashes to go.  I need to find something which I can wear as a pendant on my necklace, one I found back in 1996 at college and has been pendant-free all these years, waiting for something appropriate to go on it.  I can’t think of anything more appropriate, now to find something which has a large enough loop on top to fit the chain through…and I don’t know if I want something silver, or glass (I’m leaning towards glass/transparent) and quite secure.  I’ll probably super-glue the top when I screw it back on (or however I reattach what is removed to fill it).  I thought for a split second, “Hey, is this kinda weird or wimpy or effeminate?”  But then I remembered

  • 1) I could give a shit, this is Geoffrey we’re talking about
  • 2) See #1
  • 3) Geoffrey was the burliest, most bad-ass softie in the world, and I bet even his ashes will be just as badass.

I’ll find something and put some of him there, some of him will be scattered, and some will be kept here for the time being until I decide what to do with the rest of him.

Half has started learning how to get the most attention from me, like using the footstool I have under the desk.  She’s slowly figuring out that if she jumps up there and sits (like I coaxed her to do, so it’s not like I don’t want her to do it), she’ll get lots of scratches while I work.  Otherwise she’s still not quite a lap or cuddle cat, still plays all hard-to-get and teases you (rubs against you, you start to pet and she playfully scurries away, then comes back), but she and I are definitely growing closer.  GOod things, too – I had forgotten that she and Geoffrey were each others’ primary groomers, and thankfully she likes being brushed, so while it isn’t the same as Geoffrey’s tongue grooming her, at least she gets something.  Such a cutie.
